Is plastic surgery in Turkey safe? What to check before you book
Turkey is one of the world's busiest destinations for cosmetic surgery, and many patients have excellent results. Like anywhere, safety depends on the clinic, the surgeon and the plan. This guide shows you what to check.

The short answer
Surgery in Turkey can be very safe when it is done by a qualified surgeon, in a properly equipped facility, with an honest plan and good aftercare. The risks come from the same places they do in any country: unqualified practitioners, rushed plans, and patients flying home too soon.
The goal is not to avoid Turkey, but to choose carefully. Here is how.
What a safe clinic looks like
A qualified surgeon, named before you travel
You should know who is operating on you before you book, and be able to see their training and experience.
A proper medical setting
Surgery under general anaesthetic should take place in a fully equipped operating facility with an anaesthetist present.
An honest, individual plan
Your surgeon should tell you what is realistic for your body, and say no to procedures that are not right for you.
Enough time to recover
A safe plan keeps you in Istanbul long enough for your surgeon to check your healing before you fly.
Clear aftercare
You should know exactly who to contact, day or night, during your stay and after you get home.
A written quote
Everything included should be written down before you travel, so there are no surprises or pressure on the day.
Red flags to avoid
- The clinic cannot or will not tell you who your surgeon is.
- Prices far below everyone else, with little detail about what is included.
- Pressure to book quickly, or special offers that expire today.
- Many major procedures squeezed into one long operation without a clear medical reason.
- A stay that is too short to check your healing before you fly.
- No clear plan for aftercare once you are home.
Questions to ask before you book
- Who is my surgeon, and what is their training and experience with this procedure?
- Where will the surgery take place, and who gives the anaesthetic?
- Which tests will I have before surgery?
- How long should I stay before flying home, and why?
- What happens if I have a complication after I get home?
- What exactly is included in my quote?
Flying after surgery
Long flights after surgery raise the risk of blood clots. Follow your surgeon's advice on when to fly, stay well hydrated, walk regularly before and during the journey, and wear compression stockings if your surgeon recommends them. This is one reason a safe plan never rushes you home.
How Clinic All-In approaches safety
Your surgeon is confirmed in your quote before you travel, and their full CV is shared privately with your medical report. Your photos are reviewed in advance so the plan is realistic, your stay is long enough for your surgeon to check your healing, and a personal coordinator and 24/7 multilingual support are with you throughout your trip and after you get home.
Our procedure pages show how long you stay and what recovery looks like for each treatment. Start with rhinoplasty, deep plane facelift, tummy tuck or BBL.
Frequently asked questions
Is Turkey safe for plastic surgery?
It can be, when you choose a qualified surgeon, a properly equipped facility and a clinic with an honest plan and good aftercare. Use the checklist in this guide before you book.
Why is surgery cheaper in Turkey?
Lower running and living costs in Turkey mean procedures usually cost less than in the US, Canada or Australia. A much lower price than other Turkish clinics, however, is a reason to ask more questions.
How long should I stay after surgery?
It depends on the procedure, from about a week for rhinoplasty or eyelid surgery to about ten days for a facelift, tummy tuck or BBL. Your surgeon should check your healing before you fly.
What if I have a problem after I get home?
Ask any clinic this before booking. At Clinic All-In, your coordinator and our 24/7 multilingual team stay in touch after you get home.
Can I combine several procedures?
Often, yes, but only when your surgeon considers it safe for you. Be cautious of plans that combine many major procedures without a clear medical reason.
